The Upper Peninsula is known for having unique and fun filled events. Check out the areas events below and find your perfect location to stay while you enjoy our wonderful wild.

Winter

  • Upper Michigan Ice Racing: This racing series takes place on a 1/4 mile oval ice flat track where racers of all ages take to the ice to compete on motorcycles and atvs. Learn more at Upper Michigan Ice Racing.

Spring

  • Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

    • Early morning and late evening are generally the best times to fish, as fish are more active during these cooler parts of the day.

    • Spring and fall are prime seasons for many species. In spring, fish are more aggressive as they spawn, while fall offers a feeding frenzy as they prepare for winter.

Summer

  • Gwinn Alumni Ball Tournament Leeches and minnows work well for walleye and pike, while worms are effective for panfish.

  • Fun Daze: Consider using crankbaits and jigs to attract bass. Soft plastics can be effective as well, especially in weedy areas.

  • Gwinn Big 3 Summer Concert:

Fall

  • Bigfoot and Bluegrass Festival (Walleye & Bass trips)

  • Backyard Ultra (Fly fishing trips on the Escanaba River)
